3. Johnathan Hankins

Gallimore isn't the only Dallas DT who could be on the move by Halloween.

Veteran defender Johnathan Hankins — traded to the Cowboys in October 2022 — is also a free agent at the end of the season. Although his 144 career games bring valuable experience to the locker room, his role on the team makes him expendable.

Hankins has started in all six of Dallas'games thus far but has only played 41% of defensive snaps, only playing more than 38% of opportunities twice. He's tallied 12 tackles and defended 2 passes with his playing time, but a 47.9 overall grade on Pro Football Focus indicates that the Cowboys are better off when he isn't on the field.

With the way that defensive coordinator Dan Quinn rotates the defensive line, keeping Hankins around until the season's end isn't necessary. Dallas should instead find a trade partner that could use the veteran.

After all, there has to be some value in a rental player with 388 career tackles and 14.5 sacks to his name.

While the Cowboys don't need to trade Hankins, exploring potential options could wind up being beneficial.
