3. Mike McCarthy - HC

McCarthy and Dak feel linked in poetic ways. By most objective measures, McCarthy's time with the Cowboys has been a success.

Dallas was 12-5 the last two years and is on pace for a similar finish this year, but questions persist about McCarthy's ability to manage important games and beat the best teams in the league. After falling short to the 49ers and Eagles this year, the calls for McCarthy's ousting have grown louder.

Even still, he's got an opportunity to prove he's the man for the job over the next month and into the playoffs. These Cowboys have one of the league's best offenses and defenses, though most fans won't be fully convinced unless Dallas reaches the Super Bowl.

The narrative that McCarthy falls short against great teams isn't unfounded. Dallas has three straight losses as underdogs, failing to cover the spread by an average of 11 points per contest.

McCarthy can not only save his job by coaching well in these big games, but he can carve out a special place in Cowboys lore in the process.

Giddy up, folks. This should be a wild stretch to close the 2023 campaign.
