The Dallas Cowboys may have taken on a significant amount of change on their roster over the last seven months, but this team is still going to be expected to be a top challenger in the NFC East this season with some of the best players in the league at key positions.

With so many new pieces on the roster in 2024, it's fair to expect the Cowboys will make plenty of changes over the course of the season as teams are never really done tinkering with their rosters as a whole.

Which players currently on the Cowboys roster might not make it through the 2024 regular season with the team?

1. Dalvin Cook, running back

The Dallas Cowboys are doing what appears to be very much a "trial" run with veteran running back Dalvin Cook. The running back position looks like one of the most questionable areas of the entire Dallas roster going into the 2024 season considering the fact that Ezekiel Elliott is the presumptive RB1 on his second tour with the team.

The Cowboys added Dalvin Cook to the practice squad with the intention (we assume) to call him up to the active roster at some point. Cook is a veteran with plenty of experience and productivity, and if the Cowboys can make it work with him, that would be a huge bonus this season. But there's absolutely no guarantee of that as there has been almost no market for Cook since he was let go by the Vikings and he averaged a career-worst 3.2 yards per carry last year with the Jets.

It wouldn't be surprising at all if Cook doesn't end up working out for the Cowboys, even though there is some optimism given how low-risk the move is that he could end up being an asset for their offense this season.
