3. Carl Lawson, DE/EDGE

After the season-ending injury suffered by former second-round pick Sam Williams, the Dallas Cowboys brought in veteran pass rusher Carl Lawson, among a number of other players, to potentially help fill the void Williams left behind.

As of right now, the Cowboys appear to have a pretty set rotation off the edge with Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence leading the way, followed by 2024 second-round pick Marshawn Kneeland and even 2021 third-round pick Chauncey Golston, who is still around. The Cowboys also kept Tyrus Wheat on the 53-man roster this year.

Lawson has a lengthy history of productivity in the NFL but staying healthy has been the one thing preventing him from being what he is now -- a practice squad dart throw.

The Cowboys cut Lawson and brought him back to the practice squad, but he won't stay there for long.

Either the Cowboys have a plan to bring Lawson up to the active roster in the very near future, or Lawson is going to start getting calls from other teams around the league as the season gets underway. There isn't exactly an overabundance of pass rushers out there for teams to choose from, and as soon as a team has a starter go down, Lawson's agent is going to be fending off suitors left and right.

If the Cowboys aren't able to offer him the snaps, Lawson will be gone.

In addition to the possibility of demand for his services, it's also very possible that Lawson simply doesn't have what it takes to play at the highest level anymore. If the Cowboys don't like what they see on the practice field, he could potentially hit free agency again and stay there while going on the workout cycle for teams in need of depth.
