3 Cowboys X-Factors Against Giants in Week 1
1. Dak Prescott
The entire 2023 season is huge for Dak Prescott. With only two years remaining on his contract, it's up to him to prove that he's still capable of leading America's Team.
The issue is that Prescott is coming off one of his worst campaigns to date. He just led the NFL with 15 interceptions despite playing only 12 contests while his 238.3 passing yards per game were his worst average since his sophomore season in 2017.
We know Prescott is capable of being better than that, but the question remains whether or not he can play at that level still.
There's honestly zero excuse for the two-time Pro Bowl QB to not dominate the Giants on Sunday. He has a plethora of weapons (Pollard, CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup, etc.) to help take advantage of a New York defense that gave up 22.8 PPG (No. 22) in 2022.
Prescott has also owned the Giants throughout his career. He's led the Cowboys to a 10-2 record over a dozen all-time meetings while completing 64.1% of passes for 3,147 passing yards and 23 TDs with seven INTs.
Making an example of the Giants would go a long way to shutting up the haters. If Prescott can't do that and reverts to untimely giveaways, the Cowboys will have an uphill battle to climb.
