3 Former Cowboys Still Unemployed Entering Week 2
3. Randy Gregory, LB/DE
Even though he hasn't played for Dallas in a few years, Randy Gregory is one of the more notable available ex-Cowboys free agents. The former 2015 second-rounder played each of his first five seasons in Big D, amassing 64 solo tackles, 16.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles, and one interception.
Unfortunately, the Gregory-Cowboys relationship fell apart when the two sides couldn't agree to contract terms during the 2022 offseason. The Jacksonville, FL native opted to leave town on a five-year, $70 million contract with the Denver Broncos. That partnership only lasted 1.5 seasons, though, as he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in October in exchange for a 2024 sixth-rounder.
Gregory became a free agent this past offseason, leading to him signing a one-year contract with the Buccaneers. The 31-year-old veteran couldn't keep his off-field issues at bay, though, as he skipped June's mandatory workouts before eventually being released by the Buccaneers during their August roster cuts.
Gregory has been his own worst enemy throughout his career and it's clear that getting older hasn't helped him mature. With his track record being well known at this point, it's going to take a lot of convincing for an NFL team to give him another chance.
