2. Michael Gallup

Releasing Michael Gallup was an absolute no-brainer for the Cowboys, who freed up $9.5 million by designating him a post-June 1 release.

Gallup isn't a total dud or anything, but was simply a cap casualty who never lived up to the big deal he had signed. But with 400-plus yards in all six of his NFL seasons and a solid enough average of 7.3 yards per target in 2023, the 28-year-old still has plenty to offer as a role player or depth piece in most offenses.

Working against Gallup is that there is still plenty of veteran receiver talent on the market. Odell Beckham, Tyler Boyd, and even guys like Michael Thomas, DJ Chark, and Josh Reynolds are competing for openings at a position that teams are increasingly trying to fill with high-upside young talent.

Prediction: Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys' wide receiver position is very messy at this point. CeeDee Lamb isn't threatening a holdout, but that potential has to be in the back of management's mind while he opts out of optional workouts right now.

Branding Cooks is also on the last year of his contract, and with a glaring need on the offensive line, Dallas can't afford to spend a first-round pick on a wide receiver.

Gallup isn't going to be a game-changer, but on the right contract, he's absolutely a solid WR3 option.
