2. Cam Akers

If you want a relatively young former second-round pick who has a Super Bowl ring and still needs a home, Cam Akers is your free agent of choice. He's suffered through injuries and played only seven games last season, but played a valuable role down the stretch for the Rams en route to a championship in 2022.

Jerry Jones has never been known to make the most sensical personnel decisions. Instead, he prefers flash. Akers could provide such a flash, offering optimism he could develop into Dallas' workhorse of the future as a high-upside, low-cost addition.

He could still wind up re-signing with the Vikings, though the Cowboys offer a much more immediate path to playing time and wins. Dallas is one of the best teams in the NFC, fresh off a 12-5 regular season, while Minnesota just entered a rebuild and signed Aaron Jones to lead the backfield.

It's not hard to imagine Jones selling Akers on the allure of Dallas and what that could mean for his personal prospects. His injury history would be less of a concern for a team like the Cowboys, who already have an island of misfit toys at the position anyway.

Akers would fit right in and provide the highest ceiling of any back on the roster. He's not a particularly likely signing but one who would make the backfield much more interesting, which is often all that Jones cares about.
