3. Al-Quadin Muhammad

If the Cowboys are looking for someone who knows their playbook somewhat, then Muhammad wouldn’t be a bad option.

The veteran defender was with the Cowboys this summer for training camp but was cut by the team ahead of the roster cutdown deadline last month.

Last season, Muhammad was suspended by the NFL for six games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The 29-year-old defender missed the final five games with the Indianapolis Colts last year.

Therefore, wherever he goes next, Muhammad will be suspended for one more week, which may or may not keep him off a 53-man roster. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reported Friday that Muhammad was among four players who worked out for the Houston Texans.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Cowboys keep Muhammad in the Lone Star State as he has an idea of the team’s defensive scheme. The veteran pass rusher played well in the preseason as he had five total tackles, three quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and a pass deflection.

Muhammad made sure to be impactful in every preseason game he saw action in, which could help him make his way back to Dallas.
