2. Sign Patrick Kane

It wouldn't hurt if the Stars added another top-six winger to the mix, which is why Patrick Kane has been a name linked to the organization.

Hell, the Stars were actually pursuing Kane ahead of last season's trade deadline before the creative skater was traded to the New York Rangers. Now that it's October and the 34-year-old winger remains a free agent, it's time to circle back to No. 88.

Is Kane at a Hart Memorial Trophy level anymore? No, but he's still talented enough to contribute to Dallas' top lines. He just recorded 21 goals and 57 points in 73 games between the Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks last season and was nearly a point-per-game player during New York's postseason run.

At this stage of his career, I assume Kane would be willing to take a pay cut to join a contender like the Stars. While he commanded a lot of money in the past, the fact that he waited this long to sign with a team tells me he's waiting for the right situation rather than the right price.

Still, it likely means we have to move someone like Faska to create space.

Nevertheless, it'd be fun to see what someone like Kane can do with the likes of Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson, Jove Pavelski, and more. Hopefully, management can find a way to make it happen.
