2. Rangers vs. Angels — Aug. 14-16

This month's series against the Los Angeles Angels is a must-win situation for the Rangers for a few reasons.

For starters, the Angels are only 6.5 games behind them with 53 games remaining, making it a deficit that's certainly surmountable. Phil Nevin's club has been hot since the All-Star Break (11-6) and if they continue playing well, the deficit could be even smaller once this series begins.

Secondly, Texas must win this series for pride. The AL West rivals have already met seven times this season with LA winning three of the four games played at Globe Life Field.

Losing this series would not only improve the Angels' playoff chances, but also diminish the Rangers' odds to win the division. The best way to avoid any potential headaches in September is to decisively beat Los Angeles this month.
