2. Owen White, P

White's been up for a couple of relief outings so far earlier this summer but didn't distinguish himself in either one. giving up 5 runs on 5 hits (2 homers) and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts in 4 innings.

Still, the fact that he's already been called up twice this year makes him a good bet to get promoted again in September, especially since he ranks as the club's No. 8 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

White's performance in the minors has been mixed this year. He was better in Double-A than Triple-A, but overall his numbers have been alright. Across 20 starts (12 in Double-A, 8 in Triple-A), he's 4-4 with a 3.91 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. His strikeout rate has sunk to just 6.6 K/9, but the hope is that his stuff will play up in the bullpen, where he's averaged a strikeout per inning in the majors so far.

The 24-year-old righty probably needs a bit more time in the minors to develop into a starter, but he could still get some valuable MLB experience in September. He could add some depth to the bullpen and serve in lower leverage situations to get him some exposure and hopefully boost his confidence a bit, giving him something to work towards in the offseason.
