3 Prospects the Rangers Need to Call Up for September 1
By Tyler Maher
3. Dustin Harris, OF
Similar to Foscue, Harris has been hitting well in the minors and seems ready for a taste of the big leagues.
Harris already moved up from Double-A to Triple-A this season and has handled the transition smoothly, batting .270/.389/.443 in 48 games with Round Rock. He's shown a bit of pop with 15 extra-base hits there, but his real impact has been on the bases. Harris has 36 steals in 40 attempts across both levels this year, proving nearly impossible to throw out.
It's not a fluke, either, as Harris has swiped 89 bags in 107 attempts during his minor league career, good for an 83.2% success rate. It's a big reason why he's the No. 10 prospect in the organization right now.
With his speed and on-base skills, Harris could be a useful pinch-runner and defensive replacement late in games. The Rangers rank third-to-last in the American League in stolen bases this year (67), so they could certainly use a lift in that department.
