We can't afford deadweight once we reach the playoffs.

3. Josh Sborz

Sborz is currently on the 15-day IL with right biceps tendinitis and hasn't pitched since Sept. 4. It's unclear when or if he'll be able to return, but I'm ready to move on from him at this point.

Dating back to last year, the results just haven't been there for him. He has a 6.00 ERA since the beginning of 2022, including a 5.80 mark this year.

While he does have great stuff and misses plenty of bats when he's on (11.9 K/9 over last two years), his command is too erratic. He allows too many walks (career 4.1 BB/9) and homers (career 1.4 HR/9), which is not a good combination when the postseason rolls around.

Sborz also seemed to be wearing down in August and looked totally cooked right before he went on the IL. Over his six most recent appearances, he had a horrendous 23.40 ERA and a 14.86 FIP.

At this point, we can't wait for him to get his groove back or rebuild his arm strength. There's just not enough time to get him ready for the postseason, and I'm not sure I'd want him pitching anyways even if he was healthy.

With the Rangers closing in on a postseason berth, you can back them to go all the way at DraftKings Sportsbook. They're offering new users who use SportDFW's link and place a first wager of $5 a whopping $200 back in bonus bets. These credits are guaranteed as well, so no matter the result of your bet, you win! Plus you'll get up to $150 in no-sweat bets. This won't last forever, though, so claim it before it disappears!
