3. Jake Odorizzi

Jake Odorizzi is the definition of a bust.

The Rangers traded for him last November in the hopes that the former All-Star would provide some much-needed bullpen depth. Instead, he hasn't thrown a single pitch for Texas this year after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery.

Ouch.

Fortunately for the Rangers, the Braves are covering $10 million of Odorizzi's $12.5 million salary and Kolby Allard hasn't been anything special for Atlanta. Still, it's frustrating that Odorizzi won't be able to contribute to Texas at all this season, if ever.

Odorizzi's going to be a free agent this offseason, and the Rangers probably won't want to take a chance on a 33-year-old pitcher coming off of an entire missed season. Odorizzi has been quite injury prone the last few years and his numbers are trending in the wrong direction, as he's 12-14 with a 4.45 ERA from 2020-2022.

If Texas is smart, Odorizzi will wind up being someone else's headache in 2024.
