2. Important extensions loom

Another reason the Cowboys should avoid a Taylor trade is the fact they've got plenty of their own players to take care of first on the contract front.

One of the most pressing issues on the team right now is Zack Martin's holdout. The eight-time Pro Bowler is arguably the best at his position in the entire league, and he wants to get paid for his excellence. After earning First or Second Team All-Pro honors in eight of his nine career seasons, Martin's value is obvious. Dallas needs to make sure its O-line lynchpin is happy.

Martin's not the only one who'll be looking for a big pay day, though. Trevon Diggs just inked a five-year extension close to $100 million that kicks in next season. Micah Parsons is in line to sign a record-breaking extension as well after establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier edge rushers.

Meanwhile, the 'Boys have a ton of upcoming free agents at key positions to lock down as well, or risk slipping from NFC contender status.

Jerry Jones will face a tough time just keeping everyone aboard, let alone adding another star to the mix. Investing in RB over the offensive line or defense would simply be malpractice, and that presents the biggest obstacle in the way of a Taylor-Cowboys trade.
