2. Michael Gallup, WR

It's important to look at this Dallas Cowboys overall roster construction and how we got where we are today. The Cowboys made a very critical decision last offseason when they signed Michael Gallup to a five-year deal worth $57 million in total money while trading away Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns.

Cooper agreed to a new contract with the Browns to lower his cap hit for 2022 and obviously help the team facilitate the move.

This was simply a move the Dallas Cowboys did not have to make. They deliberately chose Michael Gallup over Amari Cooper, and that has turned out to be one of the worst decisions in recent memory for the franchise.

Gallup is fourth on the Cowboys this year with just 22 receptions for 243 yards in eight games. This is a player who is supposed to be a WR2 on one of the best offenses in the NFL right now, and that's simply not happening. The Cowboys added Brandin Cooks in the 2023 offseason to try and make amends for that horrendous Amari Cooper trade, but Cooks has only caught 17 passes so far this season.

Ultimately, the Cowboys made a mistake they can't go back and fix, and they're having to live with the consequences now.
