4 Mavericks Who Won't Be Back in 2024

With the Dallas Mavericks' season ending in the NBA Finals, it's a good time to discuss some players who might not be with the team next season.

2. Markieff Morris

The 34-year-old Morris is also an unrestricted free agent like Jones but barely saw the floor for the Mavericks this season.

The veteran forward only played in 26 games, averaging 2.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Morris didn’t play much in the postseason as he played 12 minutes in Game 4 of the Finals, dropping three points and four rebounds.

There’s a chance that the Mavericks could bring him back Morris as he gives them another vet in the locker room and depth in the frontcourt. However, you could make the case that Dallas would be better off using that spot for a forward, who can stretch the floor in free agency.

We saw P.J. Washington's impact this season, giving the Mavs another offensive threat on the floor. Dallas needs more of that, especially if they want to compete with Boston, which has a ton of guys that demand attention.

If I’m Dallas, I want to see if rookie forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper is ready to take that next step this summer and compete for minutes off the bench. He could be the answer Dallas is looking for at the forward spot.
