5 Bold Cowboys Predictions for Week 2 vs Jets
4. Micah Parsons Locks Up Defensive Player of the Year
The only challenge Micah Parsons is going to face is this week is trying to get in a full game's worth of production before we officially enter "Deuce Vaughn time."
He didn’t have any issues in Week 1 though, racking up 1 sack, 1 TFL and a couple more QB hits despite only getting to play 57% of the Cowboys’ defensive snaps (he played 80% last year, for context).
With the Cowboys ready to end Wilson's career, that's going to include Parsons teeing off a bunch again. Even just remaining on pace for a 17-sack season by recording 1 would be pretty good, but he'll go above and beyond. We'll see Micah get at least a couple sacks, and maybe even force a turnover or two.
The other thing that will really help his case for Defensive Player of the Year? Being on a high-profile winning team. We don't like to admit it to other fanbases, but Cowboys fans know there are some perks to being the most-covered team in the NFL (at least when things are going well). One of those perks is that everyone knows your star players. Their highlights dominate social media. They're talked about on every obnoxious sports call-in show around the country.
Love 'em or hate 'em, everyone wants to talk about the Cowboys.
Already at the front of everyone's mind thanks to that Week 1 blowout, even people who turn the game off will fully understand just how ridiculously good this Cowboys team is by the end of Week 2. And being the best defensive player in that unit, while also already having an elite reputation and being on the way for putting up monster numbers again?
Just give Micah his first DPoY award now and get it over with.
