Villami Fehoko

Now to that edge rushing group I mentioned above.

The Cowboys are carrying a ton of depth on the defensive front on the active roster, and it'd be mighty hard to justify dressing 10 players on the gameday roster (even when factoring in Parsons' versatility).

I don't see Dallas going with fewer than four defensive tackles, and that means also trimming the edge rusher unit down to five.

Demarcus Lawrence dresses. Micah Parsons dresses. Duh. It’s also pretty obvious that Dorance Armstrong and 2022 second-round pick Sam Williams both suit up as well.

So like we've seen at other positions, that really leaves two players competing for one space on the active roster. Here it's Villami Fehoko and Dante Fowler.

Fowler had 6.0 sacks in his first season with the Cowboys and signed another one-year contract to stay in Dallas where he thrived. Dan Quinn got great production out of Fowler even though the vet was something as a liability on rushing downs, and it's much more valuable to have a pass-rush specialist like Fowler as the fifth EDGE than it is to have someone unproven like Fehoko.

A fourth-round rookie, Fehoko has definitely shown some promise on the edge, and that's why he made the 53-man roster rather than risking waiving him to try getting him onto the practice squad. But this is a position where Dallas is loaded with talent, and if everything works out as planned this season, I wouldn't expect to see Fehoko active for more than a game or two.
