5. Eric Scott

Another rookie hoping to play his first pro game soon is cornerback Eric Scott, who was drafted 178th overall five months ago.

Scott's absence is a byproduct of the Cowboys' elite defensive play, too. If the secondary was giving up a good chunk of yards, I could see him getting an opportunity. But there isn't much to change given that Dallas ranks highly when it comes to passing yards per game (107.0, No. 1) and completion percentage (50.9%, No. 2) allowed.

In short, our CB room has been phenomenal.

Trevon Diggs and Stephon Gilmore are providing their usual elite play while DaRon Bland already has a pick-six. That's without mentioning how C.J. Goodwin has been a solid presence on both defense and special teams.

I just can't see Scott warranting playing time over any of those four names. He's an unproven rookie who needs a lot to go right for him to earn even a few snaps over the quartet.

I like Scott and believe that he can have a solid future as a rotational defender, but there's no reason to feel optimistic regarding his chances of playing on Sunday.
