Week 3 of the 2023 season proved to the Dallas Cowboys that they're far from invincible. A double-digit loss to the Arizona Cardinals has everyone questioning some things around the team and wondering if any major changes need to be made.

The good news for Dallas is, the NFL Trade Deadline's still a month away yet, giving Jerry Jones an opportunity to add some extra talent to this Super Bowl hopeful.

With that in mind, here are five early trade targets for the Cowboys in 2023.

Cowboys Trade Rumors: Pre-Deadline Targets 2023

1. Patrick Surtain

Jerry Jones has stated he won't trade for someone of Trevon Diggs' caliber to replace the All-Pro talent, but the Denver Broncos' 0-3 start creates a golden opportunity for the Cowboys to make a huge splash by acquiring CB Patrick Surtain II.

There were plenty of rumors linking the Cowboys and Surtain in the pre-draft process, and Dallas' eagerness to add the former Alabama standout has proven spot-on so far.

Surtain's playmaking has immediately translated to the next level, as he's recorded 6 interceptions over his first two seasons to go along with a whopping 24 pass breakups. He's also coming off of a 2022 campaign that saw him earn Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro honors.

That kind of talent isn't cheap to add, but the Cowboys shouldn't balk at the cost. They'd form arguably the best CB duo in the entire league once Diggs is fully healthy again, giving Dallas two building blocks on the outside for years to come.

Bringing in Stephon Gilmore this offseason was a great move for 2023, but it's fair to wonder how much longer the former Defensive Player of the Year winner will be able to play at a high level. A Surtain trade would clear up any long-term questions in this secondary in a flash, and also provide an immediate upgrade at Diggs' old spot while he's sidelined.
