5 Most Important Cowboys Free Agent Targets in 2024
By Jovan Alford
2. Tyron Smith
Smith is one of the key free agents Dallas will decide to re-sign this offseason.
The 33-year-old is one of the best left tackles in football when healthy, which he was, for the most part, this season (13 games played). However, Smith might be playing elsewhere next season.
Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram said in January in a radio appearance that Smith is not retiring but doesn’t know if he’ll be playing in Dallas or elsewhere next year.
After only playing in four games in 2022 due to a torn hamstring and left knee fracture, Smith bounced back this season. The eight-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman was named second-team All-Pro, and Pro Football Focus ranked him as their fourth-graded tackle (83.7).
For the Cowboys to have continued success next season, they might need to consider bringing back Smith to protect Dak Prescott’s blindside, as they don't have a viable replacement yet.
