5 Stars Playing Their Final Postseason in Dallas

Regardless of how the Dallas Stars' playoff run goes, offseason changes are inevitable. Here are five players who are likely experiencing their final postseason in the Lone Star State.

3. LW/RW Radek Faksa

If the Stars want to free up more salary cap space this offseason, trading Radek Faksa must be on the menu. The two-way forward is about to enter the final season of his five-year, $16.25 million contract and will carry a $3.25 million cap hit during the 2024-25 campaign.

So, why would the Stars trade Faksa?

Well, the Czech forward hasn't exactly been living up to expectations — especially as a goal scorer. From 2016 to 2020, Faksa had tallied 55 goals in 306 games, playing at a 0.18 goal-per-game pace. Unfortunately, his scoring has fallen off a cliff since signing his new contract as he's only found the back of the net 29 times over the last 286 games (0.10 GPG).

Faksa's defense makes up for some of his offensive shortcomings, but that might not be good enough to convince the Stars to bring him back. Freeing up $3.25 million could be a game-changer for Dallas this offseason, which is even truer if re-signing someone like Duchene is near the top of the priority list.

Considering how teams are always looking to improve their bottom-six forward depth, I can easily imagine a team willing to roll the dice on a Faksa trade this summer.
