4. DeMarvion Overshown, LB

It's going to be a big offseason for a lot of young players on that Dallas Cowboys roster defensively, but it's a bit of an unfairly big offseason for DeMarvion Overshown.

The former third-round pick out of Texas showed outstanding range throughout his college career, starting off as a safety and five-star prospect who transitioned to linebacker and obviously caught the eye of NFL teams.

Overshown suffered a torn ACL last year and has been in the recovery process, but now he's not just dealing with a comeback season from injury, he's dealing with a scheme change and new defensive coordinator.

And the Cowboys are probably going to be asking Overshown to come back from injury and eat up a bunch of snaps this season. Former fifth-round pick Damone Clark led all returning Cowboys off-ball linebackers in snaps last year and Mike Zimmer brought in a familiar face through free agency in Eric Kendricks.

The arrival of Kendricks should take a little pressure off of Overshown, but with so many players leaving in the 2024 offseason, there's going to be pressure even on guys coming back from injury to perform at a high level. Overshown gives them an athletic option who can not only do well in coverage with his background as a safety, but provide some pressure as a pass rusher. He's fast, athletic, and he's got the playmaker gene.

But the pressure to play a lot and play well coming off of injury has the second-year linebacker on thin ice after OTAs.
