6 Former Cowboys Who Didn't Survive Roster Cuts With Their New Team
By Randy Gurzi
On Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys trimmed their roster to 53 players.
There were several surprises as they made their moves, including the decision to move on from Carl Lawson, a free agent they recently signed this offseason. Lawson, who was expected to help replace Sam Williams, was a vested veteran who didn't have to go through waivers and is back as a member of the team's practice squad.
Of course, they weren't the only team making cuts as the rest of the NFL had to get their team's down to 53 men. With that going on, there were also several former Cowboys who were unable to make it with their latest teams. Here's a look at six such players.
6. Quinton Bohanna, DT, Tennessee Titans
It was hard not to get excited when the Cowboys took Quinton Bohanna in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. While he had just 59 tackles in his career at Kentucky, he offered something their defensive line had been lacking - size.
Bohanna is a massive human at 6-foot-4 and 360 pounds and Dallas was desperate for a run-stuffer. He even showed enough promise to make the team as a rookie and he had 10 tackles in 14 games. He added another 19 tackles in 2022 while making nine starts in 13 games.
He was released in 2023 after the addition of Mazi Smith and split time with the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans. This year, however, he was unable to make the 53-man roster in Tennessee and was released.
