4. Ben DiNucci, QB, Buffalo Bills

Ben DiNucci was an interesting prospect for the Cowboys.

Selected in 2020 as a seventh-round pick out of James Madison, DiNucci also spent time with the Pittsburgh Panthers during his collegiate career. He grew up in the Pittsburgh area and had ties to head coach Mike McCarthy. Some felt that gave him an edge as he was able to make the 53-man roster as a rookie.

DiNucci wound up making his first career start for Dallas on Oct. 19 against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. With Dak Prescott already out due to a broken ankle, and Andy Dalton dealing with a concussion, the rookie was thrust into the spotlight against an NFC East rival.

Dallas lost 23-9 as DiNucci struggled with 180 yards on 21-of-40 passing. He also lost two fumbles and was surpassed by Garrett Gilbert on the depth chart.

He stuck with the team for another season but was waived in 2022. He didn't play at all that year but tesurfaced with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. That led to another shot in the NFL as the Denver Broncos brought him in for the 2023 season, although he stayed on their practice squad.

This year, he landed with the Buffalo Bills after they lost backup Shane Buechele to a neck injury. DiNucci was released and the Bills elected no to re-sign him to the practice squad, instead going with another former Cowboy, Mike White.
