6 Former Cowboys Who Didn't Survive Roster Cuts With Their New Team

When the Cowboys took Trevon Diggs in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it ended up being a huge win for them. Diggs, the former Alabama star, proved to be a solid starter in the NFL as a rookie. While he didn't truly break out until 2021, when he had 11 interceptions, they already knew after his rookie campaign that he would be able to hold his own.
They wanted to find him a running back entering the 2021 offseason which is why they again turned to an SEC cornerback in Round 2 when they selected Kelvin Joseph from Kentucky. Joseph, however, came in with more concerns than Diggs.
Joseph started his career with LSU but was suspended near the end of his freshman season. This led to his transfer to Kentucky and after sitting out a year, he played one season for the Wildcats. Despite his lack of experience and red flags, Dallas brought him in. And he didn't last long.
As a rookie, Joseph played in just 10 games and then was part of a homicide investigation in the offseason. He wasn't accused of anything but was a "person of interest" and was in the vehicle where the fatal shooting took place.
The Cowboys stuck by him for one more year but finally moved on, trading him to the Miami Dolphins for former first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene. Joseph didn't make the roster in Miami and while Igbinoghene didn't do much in Dallas, he was still able to stick around all year.
Joseph finished the season with the Seattle Seahawks and this year was with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was said to be performing well in the preseason but was released on August 26.
