6 Former Cowboys Who Didn't Survive Roster Cuts With Their New Team
By Randy Gurzi
2. Noah Brown, WR, Houston Texans
The Cowboys ended up hitting a home run with their seventh-round pick in 2017. At No. 239 overall, they added Ohio State wide receiver Noah Brown. A big-bodied wideout at 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds, Brown had just 33 receptions for 411 yards with seven touchdowns. All of that, except for one catch for nine yards, came in his final season with the Buckeyes.
Despite the low production, Dallas saw something they liked in Brown and decided to develop him. Early on in his career, he was a blocking specialist and had just nine receptions throughout his first two seasons.
He slowly started to come along with 14 receptions for 154 yards in 2020 and 16 for 184 in 2021. Then in 2022, he took over for an injured Michael Gallup and had 43 receptions for 555 yards and three touchdowns.
His performance led to a contract with the Houston Texans and he continued to play well. He recorded 33 receptions for 567 yards with two scores while averaging 17.2 yards per catch. He was re-signed in the offseason but didn't make the 53-man roster.
Houston added Stefon Diggs to an already deep receiving corps which led to the release of Brown. He then signed with the Washington Commanders, where he will be playing for Dan Quinn. There were some who thought a reunion with the Cowboys could be in order but in all honesty, they already had to make some tough cuts of their own, leaving little room for Brown.
