The Rangers are absolutely rolling, and anyone who's backed them in the betting markets has cashed in in a big way over the last week.

Well, we're expecting that to continue on Monday. Two of our editors' top betting picks for the day are focused on Texas producing more of the same as we open our series against the Oakland Athletics.

The other pick isn't nearly as optimistic, however. Here are today's best bets.

Dallas Best Bets: August 7, 2023

Tyler Maher: Rangers Runline vs. Athletics

The Rangers went a perfect 6-0 last week, sweeping the White Sox and Marlins at home. Now they’ll try to keep that momentum going on the road against the worst team in baseball on Monday. A whopping 34 games separate the two teams in the AL West standings, as Texas has over twice as many victories (66) as Oakland (32).

The pitching matchup is usually irrelevant when the A’s are involved, but at least we have the better hurler on our side. Dane Dunning is 9-4 with a 3.14 ERA and is coming off one of the best outings of his career after racking up 11 strikeouts over 7 ⅔ innings against the White Sox.

Oakland, meanwhile, is starting lefty Ken Waldichuk, who is 2-7 with a 6.52 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. When your numbers are that bad, there’s really nothing else to say.

Waldichuk is a lefty, too, and the Rangers have mashed southpaws all year long with MLB’s second-best wRC+ against them (129).

All signs point to an easy win against Oakland, which is just 17-39 at home this year. Take Texas to cover the runline with its high-flying offense.

Jason Schandl: Rangers-A's OVER

Sticking with this Rangers-A’s game, I agree with Tyler that we’ll get a blowout. But what I’m really focused on is how much offense we'll likely see in this one.

Dane Dunning has had some great results this season, but with a 4.56 xERA (compared to an actual 3.14 ERA) we’re probably going to see him come back down to earth a bit. It’s not like Oakland has the edge on the mound though, as Ken Waldichuk has a 6.52 ERA with a 5.05 xERA.

Betting the Over has also been a great move when betting on both teams' games this season. The Over has hit in 53.9% of Texas games, which is tied for the fifth-highest rate in MLB. Oakland is one of the few teams ahead of them, hitting the Over at a whopping 55.2% rate (No. 2 in the majors).

It will only take 9 runs for the Over to hit in this one, and is it really that hard to see the Rangers winning at least 6-4 to cover both the runline and the Over?

You can bet ‘em both individually, or you can mix them into a same-game parlay to boost your payout.

Isaiah De Los Santos: Wings Win Total UNDER

It hasn't been a particularly strong start to the second half of the year for the Wings. With this team struggling, I’m looking at the Under for their win total on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Dallas hasn’t played sharp basketball following the All-Star break, going just 4-4 overall. Yes, there was a win against the 2-seed Liberty in there, but they started to dive at the end of last month. Latricia Trammell’s squad has gone a dismal 1-3 since July 30, and they’re coming off of back-to-back losses to the sub-.500 Sky.

My confidence isn’t high in this team turning things around right now. They’ve got the top-seeded Aces up next, followed by a back-to-back against the 20-win Sun. With how they’re playing right now, it’s a possibility the Wings drop all three contests.

If that scenario plays out, Dallas would have to win six of its last nine games to go over 21.5 wins. That’s a tall task down the stretch for any team, especially with the playoff race heating up.

That win total bet isn't available on Caesars Sportsbook, but our Rangers bets are, and Caesars is the best place to get your money down right now.
