Cowboys 2023 Schedule: Predicting the Score of Every Remaining Game
By Randy Gurzi
Week 17: Lions @ Cowboys - Dec. 30th
Suddenly, the Detroit Lions are one of the best teams in the entire NFL. Dan Campbell has won over his roster and they fight hard each and every game. They also have a sensational play-caller in Ben Johnson who has gotten the most out of Jared Goff.
Detroit is currently second in the NFL in yards on offense and ninth in yards on defense. However, they somehow are 21st in points surrendered but make no mistake about it, this team is talented on both sides of the ball.
The one area they are susceptible is in the passing game. They're 20th in that regard, surrendering 2,084 yards through the air. That means the Cowboys will be able to move the ball but with the Lions ability to shut down the run, they're going to struggle to convert on short-yardage and goal line situations.
Dallas will also have a hard time with this rushing attack. Both David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs have been fantastic this season and while the Cowboys defense is one of the best in the league, they're still not where they need to be when it comes to shutting down the run. In the end, the Lions are able to control the clock and Dallas has to settle for field goals too many times.
Score Prediction: Lions 27, Cowboys 23
Record 11-5
