The Dallas Cowboys are looking to get back into the win column on Thursday night against the New York Giants. The Cowboys suffered two straight terrible losses at home to the New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens.

However, Dallas will look to change its fortunes in their first NFC East matchup. Before the Cowboys-Giants kickoff at MetLife Stadium, Dallas made a couple of roster moves on the defensive side of the ball.

According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Dallas is elevating cornerback Amani Oruwariye and defensive end Carl Lawson from the practice squad for tonight’s game. Lawson made his Dallas debut against the Baltimore Ravens last week after his first practice squad elevation.

The veteran defensive end didn’t make a huge impact in last week’s contest, only playing nine snaps. The former New York Jets pass rusher was signed by Dallas last month and cut ahead of the roster deadline. The Cowboys immediately signed Lawson to the practice squad.

Meanwhile, this will be Oruwariye’s first practice squad elevation this season. The 28-year-old defensive back was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars last month after he spent the 2023 season with the New York Giants and Jaguars.

Since being drafted in 2019, the veteran cornerback has played 54 games across his five-year NFL career. Oruwariye has posted 173 combined tackles, nine interceptions, four tackles for loss, and two fumble recoveries.

The decision to elevate Oruwariye from the practice squad for tonight's game is not shocking, given Dallas has two defenders in the secondary banged up.
