After months without football being played, teams are heading back to the facilities as they prepare for the 2024 season.

The Dallas Cowboys didn't make any splashy moves to change the team and will have the majority of the same roster coming back to town.

Dak Prescott is the clear QB1 next season but there is some uncertainty regarding his long-term future in Dallas.

Meanwhile, Trey Lance is entering his second year with the team and the Cowboys can't hold back their excitement for him as OTAs are on the horizon.

Cowboys News: Dallas Is Eager To See Trey Lance On the Field Over The Next Few Months

OTAs are set to begin on May 21 for the Cowboys as they start to prepare for the 2024 campaign.

This gives the coaching staff an opportunity to get a look at the new additions while also peeking at who took a step over the offseason.

The Cowboys can't wait to see Lance take the field. In 2023, Dallas traded a 2024 fourth-round pick for the 24-year-old.

Last season, Lance was the No. 3 QB behind Prescott and Cooper Rush. The NDSU product hasn't played suited up in a preseason game since Aug. 19 for the San Francisco 49ers. Meanwhile, the last time he played in a regular season outing was on Sept. 18, 2022, when he suffered a season-ending injury against the Seattle Seahawks.

Despite his lack of reps, the Cowboys are excited for Lance and his progress.

Stephen Jones said, "He’s [Lance] done nothing but impress around here. He’s a pro, he works his ass off. No one gets to see him, because he hasn’t been on the field (because) we got him late. But we’re going to get to see him.”

Jones added, "We’re very pleased. He exhibits everything you would think a top 5 pick would exhibit. … Trey exhibits similar type work ethic (to Prescott). Obviously Trey is a really good athlete, and the most important thing is his arm. He’s got a very live arm, very strong arm. He continues to improve with his footwork and his accuracy," when speaking to 105.3 The Fan in Dallas last month.

With Prescott not likely to even step on the field in preseason, those reps are up for grabs. Lance will have plenty of chances to impress the staff through OTAs, training camp, and preseason.

Everything that he's done behind the scenes thus far has impressed management and he has the opportunity to put it on display when he takes the field.
