After a disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs, the Dallas Cowboys enter a pivotal offseason as they try to figure out their postseason woes.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wasn’t happy after another quick playoff exit, and there will be some changes potentially to the roster and coaching staff. Will defensive coordinator Dan Quinn get a head coaching gig? And what's Mike McCarthy's future with the team as head coach?

Along with personnel moves, Dallas will be looking toward the 2024 NFL Draft, where they have seven picks, including in the first round at No. 24 overall.

Below, we’ll look at each pick the Cowboys have in the draft, including any compensatory selections and trades that helped them gain more capital.

Cowboys 2024 Draft Trades

Among the seven draft picks the Cowboys have, only one in the seventh round was acquired via a trade. Here’s how Dallas got that Day 3 selection from the Raiders:

  • The Cowboys traded a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 204)  to the Raiders for veteran defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins and a 2024 seventh-round pick (No. 234)

Compensatory Picks

The Cowboys are projected to get a couple of compensatory draft picks for Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Compensatory picks are awarded to teams across the league based on qualifying free agents signed or lost the previous offseason. These selections won’t be announced until later in the offseason.

Team Needs

There’s always room for improvement and more additions, even for a team such as Dallas, which has Pro Bowl talent on both sides of the ball. Here are some of the positions that Dallas could look to attack in the draft:

  • Offensive Line (tackle)
  • Running Back
  • Defensive Line (edge and tackle)
  • Linebacker
  • Safety
