Cowboys Finally End CeeDee Lamb Drama With Massive Contract
The Dallas Cowboys haven't had a positive offseason in terms of adding talent and steering clear of drama. Ever since the Cowboys' season ended in January, Dallas has been in news cycles for all the wrong reasons.
One of the biggest storylines surrounded CeeDee Lamb and his extension, but the two sides finally came to a resolution on Monday.
Cowboys News: Ceedee Lamb Signs Massive Extension
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cowboys and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb agreed to terms on a four-year, $136 million dollar extension. He also received a $38 million signing bonus, which is the largest ever given to a wide receiver.
Now Lamb is the second-highest non-paid QB in the NFL. Back in June, Minnesota and wide receiver Justin Jefferson agreed to a four-year, $140 million extension, making him the highest-paid WR in the NFL.
Lamb getting $34 million annually is a massive jump as he looked to get paid for his stellar play on the field. In 2023, Lamb was first in the NFL in receptions (135), second in receiving yards (1,749), and third in receiving touchdowns (12). He's also racked up 1,000-plus yards for three straight seasons and become a bonafide No. 1 WR.
Now the Cowboys can get their best offensive playmaker in the building after finally locking him down for the long term.
The Oklahoma product now joins Jefferson, D.J. Moore, A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jaylen Waddle, and Nico Collins as wide receivers who've earned big-time extensions this offseason.
With Lamb locked in, the Cowboys can now focus on the Sept. 8 opener against the Cleveland Browns.
