Cowboys Get Unfortunate Trevon Diggs Injury News to Start Camp
The Dallas Cowboys have been constantly discussed over the past couple of months. Despite having three straight 12-win campaigns, they have failed to get over the hump in the postseason.
They were sent packing in the first round of the playoffs by the Green Bay Packers but in that matchup, they were missing one of their top defenders Trevon Diggs, who suffered a torn ACL in practice back in September.
He missed the entire season and has been rehabbing relentlessly this offseason. The Cowboys report to Oxnard, California for training camp on July 23 but Diggs won't be on the field to start.
Cowboys News: Trevon Diggs Will Start Training Camp on PUP
According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys are going to place Diggs on the physically unable-to-perform list.
It's been nine months since he tore his ACL but the Cowboys aren't trying to rush their star corner onto the field just yet.
Moore added the Cowboys are confident that Diggs will be ready for the season opener.
"Club officials are operating under the belief that Diggs will be ready to play when the team opens the regular season against Cleveland on Sept. 8."
- David Moore
The Cowboys start the season on the road against the Cleveland Browns and getting Diggs back would be massive.
When healthy, Diggs is one of the best ball-hawking difference-makers in the league. Across four seasons, the former Alabama product has recorded 146 solo tackles, 52 pass deflections, and 18 interceptions.
The Cowboys had DaRon Bland balling out last season so having both Diggs and Bland on the field at once is an exciting thought for Cowboy fans.
They'll just have to wait a bit longer to see it in action.
