The Dallas Cowboys have been awfully quiet this offseason. Despite being packed up in the first round, the Cowboys didn't do much to improve the team.

Now as we approach the 2024 campaign, the pressure is building for Dallas to be a serious threat. While rookies and veterans report to training camp on July 24, a Cowboy legend is going through a legal battle with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Cowboys News: Troy Aikman and Lamar Jackson Are in Legal Battle

Troy Aikman, a three-time Super Bowl champion in Dallas, is in a battle with Lamar Jackson. Both guys wore the No. 8 on the football field and are fighting over copyright issues according to Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com.

Both men have some type of legal protection over the number. Recently, Jackson was against Aikman's attempt to use "EIGHT" on apparel and bags. The Louisville product believes it could cause some confusion to the public whether they are getting products from Jackson or Aikman.

In addition, Jackson's filing said, "he has expended considerable time, effort, and expense in promoting, advertising, and popularizing the number 8 in connection with his personality and fame.”

He added," he's well known by his number due to his notoriety and fame, along with his promotion of this number in his trademarks and in media coverage."

Aikman is selling a beer known as "EIGHT" while Jackson has "Era 8" apparel.

The 27-year-old submitted his paperwork on July 9 and Aikman's appeal is due on August 18.

This dynamic adds another element to the season, as the Ravens come to Dallas in Week 3. The Ravens also have two Monday Night Football games on ESPN, where Aikman serves as an analyst.
