2. Jalen Brooks

Jalen Brooks got to play 15 snaps in his NFL debut in Week 2, but he was back on the inactive list in Week 3 and you can count on it happening again against the Patriots.

Brooks' elevation onto the active roster only came because Brandin Cooks was sidelined, and his snap count was more related to that Jets game being a blowout than anything else. It wasn't a sign that the seventh-round pick is starting to find his way into the offensive gameplan.

When injuries aren’t happening, there’s just not room for Brooks on the active gameday roster. CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup are the obvious top three. KaVontae Turpin’s versatility and special teams contributions guarantee his spot every week.

That means there's only one spot up for grabs, and Brooks would have to pass Jalen Tolbert on the depth chart to claim it. The Cowboys are high on Tolbert, and he solidified his spot on the depth chart with an outstanding preseason.

Tolbert only had 3 catches for 18 yards starting in place of Cooks in Week 2, but we've yet to see any signs that might indicate Brooks is closing the gap on him. Until we do, it's safe to assume Brooks will be inactive barring any injuries.
