The Dallas Cowboys have begun their offseason program as they gear up for training camp and the start of the 2024 regular season.

The Cowboys have been the topic of conversation this offseason due to their lack of moves in free agency and contract situations with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. Prescott is entering the last year of his deal but is participating in voluntary workouts this month.

Meanwhile, Lamb has not shown up to the offseason program as he seeks a contract extension after a record-setting 2023 season. The Cowboys know that they must pay Lamb, and fans are likely worried about the possibility of the star wideout not being in Dallas.

However, Lamb’s teammates are not concerned about his absence as he’s been in contact with them.

“He’s just showing the guys that he’s still here, he’s still going to be here,” Kavontae Turpin said (h/t Bri Amaranthus of Cowboys Country). “At the same time, the business, the contract stuff: that’s big-time. He’s just staying in touch, staying around, staying vocal. That’s what our leaders do.”

Meanwhile, Prescott was asked about his star wide receiver last week and said they will still get some work.

“We’ll get some work in,” he said last week (h/t Cowboys Wire). “I’ve been in communication with CeeDee. That’s there. We’ll get work in, whether it’s him getting into the facility… Maybe a deal gets done, and if it doesn’t, I guarantee that we still find a lot of time to make sure that we’re putting in the work that we feel comfortable [with].”

Prescott understands that for the Cowboys to have any success next season, the team needs Lamb, and those two need to be on the same page.

Last season, the star wideout had a great 2023 season, posting career-highs across the board with 135 receptions (181 targets) for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Cowboys need to get something done with Lamb sooner rather than later as they don’t want this to linger into training camp.
