The Dallas Cowboys are always going to be in the limelight. That's what comes with being America's Team and having a vocal owner like Jerry Jones.

The team wasn't aggressive over the offseason to add talent because they believe in the talent they have on the roster.

They have some young studs on the team and one of them got hurt in Friday's practice a few hours after Mike McCarthy talked about him.

Cowboys News: Luke Schoonmaker Seen Walking to the Locker Room

According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, tight Luke Schoonmaker was seen walking off the practice field and headed to the locker room.

This was a bit ironic cause McCarthy was saying before practice how good of a summer Schoonmaker was having and he just needed to stay healthy. Now he's hurt and it can appear to some within the fanbase that the head coach may have jinxed the young pass catcher.

The Michigan product is heading into his second year with the team but McCarthy is very high on Jake Ferguson, calling him the "poster child" for a second-year jump.

After seemingly taking a positive step forward in his progression, Schoonmaker has a new hurdle to clear. As a rookie, he had to deal with plantar fasciitis and then had shoulder surgery in the offseason. He also had a hamstring injury that kept him out of OTAs.

Now he has another injury that popped out, which is taking valuable reps away from him.

In 2023, the 25-year-old had eight catches (15 targets), for 65 yards and two touchdowns. With Ferguson being the No. 1 tight end and the team adding Brevyn Spann-Ford as an undrafted free agent, the time may be ticking for Schoonmaker.

In hindsight, McCarthy may have been better off keeping his mouth shut regarding Schoonmaker's health as the tight end is dealing with another injury.
