The Dallas Cowboys are in the final stages of preparing for Week 1 as their training camp in Oxnard, Calif., comes to a close. This hasn't been an easy trip for the Cowboys, who've dealt with ongoing contract drama since arriving and witnessed several players face health scares or even major injuries.

However, things took an even sharper turn for the worse on Tuesday after a fire broke out at the team's hotel.

According to the Cowboys, the incident occurred in an unoccupied guest room. Thankfully there were no injuries caused by the fire, as the Oxnard Fire Department acted quickly to contain the threat.

It's amazing to hear what could've been a potential disaster was entirely avoided, giving Dallas some very good news in a time when that's scarce.

Now the Cowboys will look to move on from this unexpected occurrence and lock in for the final preseason tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday. This is the last chance for those on the roster bubble to make an impression on the coaching staff, which still has several decisions on roles for the upcoming year to make.

Meanwhile, Dallas' entrenched starters -- who likely won't play versus LA -- will be paying close attention to the contract front over the last few days with the status of both Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb still very much up in the air.

Prescott has at least been an active partipcant at camp without a new deal in hand, but it's unclear if his content attitude could change as the regular season approaches.

Meanwhile, Lamb is preparing for the campaign on his own while on his quest to be one of the highest-paid receivers in the league, which his teammates have supported. His holdout very well could drag into the season, however, considering he's shown no concerns about fines to this point.
