It's never too early to start thinking about the NFL Draft and one recent mock has the Cowboys reaching on an underwhelming defender.

ESPN's Matt Miller released a mock Wednesday, tying Ohio State edge rusher JT Tuimoloau to Dallas in a move that'd be a stunner to Cowboys fans.

With a number of key positions in need of reinforcements, would it make sense for the Cowboys to take another pass rusher?

Cowboys Draft Rumors: ESPN Mock Gives Dallas JT Tuimoloau

Tuimoloau is in his third year as a Buckeye, amassing 79 career tackles with 11 sacks and two interceptions in a storied career.

That being said, he's ranked just 43rd in ESPN's own prospect rankings, making this selection a reach should Dallas make the pick. A wide receiver or cornerback may make more sense, especially given the draft's deep collection of talent at each position.

According to Miller, Tuimoloau "plays his best in big games, including four career sacks against Penn State last season. He's a heavy-handed defensive end who also shows up against the run."

This kind of player is a logical fit with NFL Defensive Player of the Year-candidate Micah Parsons, though Cowboys fans would likely be disappointed with a reach for a player who ultimately didn't show the kind of production at Ohio State befit of a first-round selection.

There's a long way to go before the 2024 NFL Draft and the Cowboys roster will look different once April rolls around, but fingers crossed Dallas goes in a different direction come draft season.
