Roster cuts are always difficult, and fans knew the Cowboys would have to make some really tough decisions today. But that doesn't make them sting any less.

2021 sixth-round pick Quinton Bohanna had become something of a fan favorite, and many around Dallas were really rooting for him to make the 53-man roster for 2023 after a strong start to training camp. Unfortunately, Bohanna was waived on Tuesday morning, bringing an end to his time on the active roster.

Cowboys Roster Cuts

Bohanna started nine games as a sophomore in 2021, already vastly exceeding the expectations you'd typically have for a sixth-round pick. The massive 360-pounder really didn't perform the way you'd like to see with the opportunity, though, making just 19 tackles (1 TFL) and earning a brutal 41.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

Still, having a terrifyingly strong behemoth in the middle is something fans love, and his size and strength gave rise to optimism about his potential. He just didn't show enough improvements in live-game action this preseason, however.

The silver lining is that Bohanna has a pretty good chance of clearing waivers, meaning he could end up back on the Cowboys practice squad in a few days to continue his development and hopefully still develop into a viable NFL contributor.

Cowboys fans weren't too happy about the news though, especially since Bohanna was one of the first cuts made. Just check out some of the reactions on Twitter:

But not everyone seems to agree that it's a shame to see Bo go:

And one of the first responses to the news on the r/Cowboys Subreddit was similarly critical:

"... First guy that played real minutes last year that’s gone. Not surprised though, he was awful"

This is just the first in what will have to be a long list of cuts to get the Boys down to 53 men on the roster, though, so fans can't afford to let themselves get too emotional about things. Otherwise, today will be a very long day.

In fact, even in the time I took to write this story, we had the next cut come in, with safety Sheldrick Redwine gone. This one's not a major surprise, though.

The easiest way to make it through such an emotional day is to treat yourself. And that's why Cowboys fans should cash in with Caesars Sportsbook's guaranteed $250 bonus. New users who sign up through the exclusive Sport DFW link below will unlock an offer that pays out a $250 bonus whether your bet wins or loses. This expires soon though, so cash in now before it's too late!
