The Dallas Cowboys have seen plenty of impactful players leave town over the past few weeks. It's certainly an interesting approach due to the pressure that's mounting for the Cowboys to make a deep playoff run.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys believe this is the right way to build the team for 2024 but they will have a huge hole to fill along the offensive line.

Tyron Smith is joining the New York Jets which leaves a void at left tackle. There was speculation that Dallas would kick out Tyler Smith to tackle but Mike McCarthy stated otherwise.

In a Mar. 26 meeting with reporters down in Orlando, McCarthy said, "We’ll keep him [Tyler Smith] at guard right now, see how it unfolds. …As of today. Let’s fill out the room, and then we’ll look at it.” Pleased with development of the O-line room.“We’d like to continue adding to that.”

Dallas News: The Cowboys Plan to Keep Tyler Smith at Guard

Smith has the versatility to play at both tackle and guard at a high level so it made sense why people thought he would jump out to OT.

That speculation can go to rest now after McCarthy's statement. Yes, plans change but Smith is slated to start at guard.

According to PFF, the Tulsa product played in 942 offensive snaps, logging a 72.9 overall grade and a 79.7 run-blocking grade last season.

The Cowboys own the No. 24 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and have shown the ability in the past to draft quality offensive linemen late in the first round.

That could be what they look to do as they eye bolstering the trenches.

Despite the lack of moves in free agency, Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Cowboys have the fifth-highest odds (+1300) to win the Super Bowl. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
