Cowboys to Face Dark Horse Super Bowl Contender in Season Opener

With all the major offseason events like free agency and the NFL Draft done, everyone is now focused on the 2024 season.

The NFL is going to officially release the entire 18-week schedule on Wednesday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET. Even though the full schedule isn't out yet, some teams around the league are finding out who they will open up the season against, and the Dallas Cowboys are one of them.

Cowboys News: Dallas Is Going to Open the 2024 Season Against the Cleveland Browns

The Dallas Cowboys are going to travel to take on the Cleveland Browns on Sept. 8 at 3:25 CT on FOX to kick off the regular season.

This will also be Tom Brady's first game as an announcer, drawing even more eyeballs to this contest.

The Browns went 11-6 in 2023 even though they were ravaged by injuries. They were led by their stifling defense that constantly dominated on a weekly basis. Cleveland was first in the NFL in total defense (270.2) and passing yards allowed (164.7).

Cleveland did get bounced in the Wild Card Round to the Houston Texans and will be looking to start off right in 2024.

As for the Cowboys, they went 12-5 for the third straight year and won the NFC East. Despite the regular season success, they struggled to get over the top in the playoffs, falling 48-32 at home to the Green Bay Packers in a Wild Card showdown.

Cleveland leads the all-time series 18-14 and this will be the first contest since 2020. The Cowboys won four of the past five games against the Browns but they lost the previous one. On Oct. 4, 2020, the Browns topped the Cowboys 49-38.
