The Cowboys' full schedule for the 2024 season was officially released on Wednesday and we now have a complete week-by-week breakdown. Dallas opens the season on the road against the Cleveland Browns and opening odds underestimate Dak Prescott and this roster.

DraftKings Sportsbook released odds for every game this year and while these are subject to change throughout the season, they still give us a good idea of how oddsmakers expect things to go.

Even though the Cowboys are on the road, I think they should be favored against Deshaun Watson and the Browns. However, oddsmakers disagree.

Cowboys vs. Browns Week 1 Opening Odds

  • Spread: Cowboys +1 (-115)/Browns -1 (-105)
  • Moneyline: Cowboys (-108)/Browns (-112)
  • Total: 44.5 (Over -108/Under -112)

These odds have Dallas as a slight underdog. You'd need to bet $10.80 on the Cowboys to win to profit $10, or you could go with the spread odds instead if you prefer. It's possible Dallas is even favored once the season starts, but I believe they should be right now either way.

The Cowboys still have the core of one of the NFL's best offenses in 2023. Let's not forget Dallas won their first two games by a combined score of 70-10 while Cleveland opened the year 2-2. Deshaun Watson isn't the same weapon he once was, so this is a matchup Dak Prescott needs to dominate.

I know the Browns have a stellar defense, but the Cowboys do too. Amari Cooper and Nick Chubb are dangerous offensive players, though so is CeeDee Lamb. If Dallas wants to be taken seriously as a Super Bowl contender, the team can't be an underdog to Cleveland to start the year.

This signals that oddsmakers expect the Cowboys to be slightly worse. Even with the game in Cleveland, these current odds are disrespectful to Dallas.

With big decisions ahead on contracts for Prescott and Lamb, among several other key players, it's important for the Cowboys to get off to a hot start. This is a team that can win the NFC, and I think Dallas will make these odds look foolish once Week 1 finally rolls around.
