Cowboys vs Rams Week 8 Opening Odds Don't Give Dallas Enough Credit
By Tyler Maher
Coming out of their bye week, the Dallas Cowboys will host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8. The Cowboys are 4-2 and second in the NFC East, while the Rams are 3-4 after an embarrassing home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.
With the benefits of extra rest and home-field advantage, you'd expect Dallas to be heavily favored in this game. Surprisingly, however, that is not the case.
Cowboys vs Rams Week 8 Opening Odds
As of Monday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook has the Cowboys favored by 5.5 points, which is less than a full touchdown.
That's despite the fact that Los Angeles just lost by a touchdown at home in Week 7 to a mediocre Steelers team. The Rams completely choked in the fourth quarter, getting outscored 14-0 and losing 24-17.
Now they have to travel down to Dallas to face the Cowboys, who've had an extra week to prepare for this game. That makes Dallas' elite defense even more dangerous, which is saying a lot considering our unit ranks top-6 in both fewest points and yards allowed.
The Cowboys are undefeated at home this year and blew out both of their opponents -- the New York Jets and New England Patriots -- by a combined 55 points. That should make Los Angeles even more nervous after losing four of its last six games.
Matthew Stafford is an interception machine with 6 picks in his last six games, so he's a good bet to turn the ball over at least once against a Dallas defense that ranks second in interceptions (8). With the Cowboys rested and ready to go, they should have no trouble winning this game by at least a touchdown and covering.
