Army of Mavs Teammates Attending Dirk Nowitzki's HOF Induction on Saturday
Saturday's Basketball Hall of Fame induction will celebrate the illustrious careers of several players, including Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki. He's been candid in the lead up to the ceremony about how much this means to him, so expect plenty of emotions to come flowing out of the German.
Thankfully, it turns out Nowitzki will have a small army of small teammates on hand to support him on his big day.
Nowitzki's guest list includes eight members of Dallas 2011 title team: Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, Tyson Chandler, Caron Butler, Ian Mahinmi, Roddy Beaubois and Brian Cardinal. That's not all, though, as Steve Nash, Michael Finley and Devin Harris will be in Springfield, Massachusetts, to celebrate their former teammate as well.
The sheer amount of ex-Mavs who will be on hand to celebrate Nowitzki just speaks to his impact on those around him throughout his career. The fact it's a mix of big, medium and small names shows that despite being a star, Dirk made sure to cultivate relationships up and down the roster.
Saturday's induction will have a strong international presence, as Pau Gasol and Tony Parker enter the Hall alongside Nowitzki. The success they had in the NBA has helped usher in the swell of non-American talent (like Luka Doncic) we have dominating the league today. We've seen scouting take major steps forward in recent years as well as prospects in other parts of the world are given deeper looks.
For Mavs fans looking to catch Nowitzki and the rest of the 2023 class join the Hall of Fame, the enshrinement ceremony takes place from 8-11 p.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 12 and will air on NBA TV. The network is also airing a HOF press conference at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, and a Red Carpet show prior to the shrinement from 7-8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
