The Dallas Cowboys are trying to get back on track after a demoralizing loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. Mike Zimmer's defense is firmly in the spotlight following its pathetic effort against the Saints, who racked up 44 points and 432 total yards in that Week 2 thrashing.

There were several players during that contest who were in a position to help out but didn't, and now one of them will be sidelined for at least four games.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Dallas defensive tackle Jordan Phillips is hitting the injured reserve list due to a wrist issue. As ESPN's Todd Archer points out, the veteran DT had wrist surgery just last year, which could signal a potential setback if it's on the same hand.

Unfortunately, it's difficult to say the Cowboys will miss Phillips while he's out. At 6-foot-6 and 330 pounds, Dallas was looking to the veteran to provide a big presence in the trenches. Instead, the former 2015 draft pick has made little impact since arriving via trade prior to Week 1, recording one assisted tackle and a QB hit over the first two weeks.

The Cowboys have particularly struggled to stop the run to begin this season, allowing an unhealthy 141.5 yards per game on the ground, showcasing a clear need that still remains on the D-line. That weakness must be addressed by a roster addition or two in the coming weeks.
