The Dallas Cowboys were awfully quiet this offseason before they head into an intense 2024 campaign. Both Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott head into the last year of their deals.

Meanwhile, Ceedee Lamb and Micah Parsons are up for big-time extensions. Can't forget that Dallas let Tony Pollard walk in free agency, leaving a gaping hole at running back.

Jerry Jones and the rest of the front office then pivoted and resigned fan favorite Ezekiel Elliott to a one-year deal worth up to $3 million.

Even before stepping on the field for the Cowboys, Elliott is already doing the fans a solid.

Dallas News: Ezekiel Elliott Is Sticking to His Old Number for 2024

According to Patrik Walker, Elliott will wear No. 21 with the Cowboys after he wore No. 15 last season with the New England Patriots.

The former Ohio State standout donned the infamous No. 21 during his seven-year career with the Cowboys. In that run with Dallas, Elliott was an unstoppable force and captured the love of the fanbase.

He's logged 8,262 rushing yards, 2,336 receiving yards, and 80 total touchdowns with Dallas and looks to recapture this type of production.

Elliott sticking with No. 21 is great news for fans who still own his Cowboys jersey. When the 28-year-old returns to AT&T Stadium, Zeke fans can brush the dust off their jerseys and throw it back on with no problem.

The backfield now consists of Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, and Royce Freeman. The 2016 fourth-overall pick has the opportunity to be the lead workhorse in Dallas for the upcoming 2024 season.
